So that System Restore that I did to revert back to the previous day worked and I am now online with my laptop! Whew! Whatta relief. Now I can go back to being the internet freak I was instead of dealing with the ancient laptop. *cries with joy*

I found out that the Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan 2 fucked-upness wasn't the fault of my DVD recorder! Apparently someone on the KIKU boards had a similar problem with another show.
